After 20+ years, I have found myself a fan of wrestling once again. AEW in my opinion is the closest thing you can get to the old WCW. Of course I was a fan of WWF in the 80’s and early 90’s. But, the most recent memories are those of Monday Nitro, and Thursday Night Thunder. For the first time in many years, I find myself looking forward to AEW’s Wednesday Night Dynamite, and Friday Night Rampage.

After 2001, (When WWF inevitably won the war with WCW) I gave it up. I just couldn’t get into the likes of “The Rock,” Mankind,” and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. The “Attitude” era just wasn’t my cup of tea! The sexuality of it all did not intrigue me either. I enjoyed the product of the in ring performance, not the soap opera of it all. Occasionally, and I do mean occasionally, I would turn it on. But, the drama and theatrics turned me off quickly. Then came about four months ago. I had a friend suggest that I give it a try. So, I sat down to watch. Me being overanalytical, I watched the prior five weeks to get up to speed on what I was watching, and what transpired to get there. Immediately I was hooked! It was a great brand of wrestling for this day and age. The gimmicks for the most part were really good. To date; some of my favorites are Malachai Black, Dante Martin, Adam Cole, The Lucha Brothers, and John Silver (That dude is just happy to be here) and It’s refreshing to see! I have a few thoughts on some things that I would like to see done differently. Suggestions of things that could be better from my vantage point. Of course, this is only MY opinion.

MJF- He is one of the most talented wrestlers that I have ever seen on a mic; Especially for being so young! Himself, and AEW as a whole should tone down the language on the mic. Children are still present, and look up to these individuals just as I did. If Jim Cornette suggests that you should tone it down, you should take that as gospel!

Malachi Black- In my opinion, Malachai Black should have stayed a singles wrestler. Keeping the mysterious gimmick going for a long while. He should have went on a Goldberg-esq type of undefeated streak. He should have never teamed with anyone. This takes away from the whole persona.

Wardlow- He is another wrestler who should absolutely have an undefeated streak into the  twenty win category. His matches with multiple powerbombs get a HUGE pop from the crowd. These are some of the most beautiful powerbombs that I have ever seen. All of this should have put him on a different path, instead of being MJF’s disciple.

Darby Allin-  The first thing that comes to mind when discussing Darby Allin is “Longevity!” Which he will not have if he keeps up with the coffin drop, and It’s many variations!

Cody Rhodes- Does he deserve the hate each and every week? Absolutely not! I think at this point It’s just a game to see who can hate the hardest, and loudest. To me, It’s a no brainer that a heel change is needed, and incoming at some point sooner than later.

Tony Schiavone- I hope that my man Tony is wearing some New Balance Tennis shoes! He is constantly involved with in ring, backstage activities, etc… A Gene Okerlund of today’s wrestling is needed once again.

Vickie Guerrero- Give her a muzzle, or keep her from ringside ASAP! Shew!…

Jade Cargill- She should absolutely be the Womens Champion while holding both belts. Physically intimidating is an understatement.

Dan Lambert- Please “Can” Dan Lambert. He isn’t needed, and hurts ratings.

Chris Jericho- Sincerely THANK YOU! But, It’s time my friend…

Dante Martin- Dante has the most potential out of anyone in AEW. His leaping ability is insane. His athleticism alone is enough to propel his career to the “Elite” status. His mic skills, and facials need work, but that will come with a couple more years of training.

Sammy Guevara- Sammy is a crowd favorite. A “Pillar” so to speak. He is starting to bulk up and gain muscle mass, which can only help with his aerial maneuvers.

Dax Harwood- Dax is as old school as It gets. I would like to see more singles matches for his future, all the while being a natural born heel.

Womens Division- Not to sound sexist, but the women are so boring to watch. If you’ll notice, during womens matches, the crowd always uses this time to go to the restroom, concession stand, etc… They lack the amount of competitiveness outside of your favorite top three women (Insert Your Own)

AEW As A Whole- I need to see more pinfall matches. Less backstage interference during interviews and in-ring interviews. Every single time it seems that you can expect someones music to conveniently hit while being questioned in the ring. Backstage, you can expect the question that was asked not to receive an answer due to interference. When the crowd is expecting this, It’s time to switch it up a bit. They have ENTIRELY too many belts! Four to five belts is plenty. Overall, AEW is a great brand of wrestling. I love the black ring ropes, dark grey mat, black ring posts, etc…It is visually pleasing. My last suggestion would be to switch providers for Pay-Per Views. Bleacher Report must not have the capability to handle to load of viewers. Everytime the service lags and Is un-watchable.
