This year’s bracket included Ohio, Portland, Wright State, Bradley, Texas State, Middle Tennessee State, South Florida, and Princeton. The tournament also had its fair share of NBA prospects. Princeton’s Xavian Lee and Wright State’s Brandon Noel were at the top of that list. It was an intimate environment that provided great fundamental basketball for all in attendance.
NCAA Basketball
Jacksonville St Guard Jaron Pierre Jr put up 31 points in a convincing win for the Gamecocks against the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in Conway, SC. Pierre shot 11 of 19 from the field, including a couple of three-pointers. Pierre would also shoot 7 of 8 from the free throw line in the contest.
The popularity of college football, a treasured American pastime, has drastically changed recently. The landscape of collegiate athletics has changed as a result of the introduction of new Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) regulations. Student athletes can now profit from their personal brands rather than just competing for awards and scholarships.
The Pitt Panthers came into Sunday’s afternoon game riding a 12 game losing streak. The rumors, chatter, and emotions would only escalate with fans after this game was over. Outside of the “The Pete” was a wash out. On the inside, things wouldn’t be much different.
It’s that time of year again! Baskets made, goals reached, and A LOT of Tums will be consumed! If your team made it, congratulations! If not, maybe next year. March is a great time of year for a sports fan. If you do not like the play-in game, or the “First Four” you’re not a basketball fan.
