Coastal Carolina came into the game having won three games in five seasons against Power Conference opponents, the last of which was a victory over Kansas in 2021. Virginia would go into the contest having had a 100-yard receiver in the previous nine games. The day’s story would not be Virginia’s passing yards but its ability to run the football on Coastal.

There was plenty of reason to celebrate Saturday after WVU’s win against a school that rarely makes appearances this far East. The throttling of BYU not only gives WVU a chance for a Bowl bid, but also, showed the depth of a running back room that can lead the charge to a few more wins before seasons end.
The popularity of college football, a treasured American pastime, has drastically changed recently. The landscape of collegiate athletics has changed as a result of the introduction of new Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) regulations. Student athletes can now profit from their personal brands rather than just competing for awards and scholarships.
In a game of shoulda, woulda, coulda, Neal Brown would state after the game “Did we play good enough to win? No. Did we play hard enough to win? Absolutely” The thing is, yes, football is a game of inches. Almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. The problem is, the NCAA has now become a “What have you done for me lately society.” Neal Browns record is starting to speak for itself and head south in the decline region.
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves, and think too much about this blowout win. Will this win give the team much needed confidence going into a game with rival Virginia Tech? Of course. After Maryland, the team needed a warm up, if you may; a game to get some walk-ons, underclassmen, backup QB Garrett Greene minutes that matter.
It’s Will Grier’s world, we’re just living in it. The fifth year senior will need to stay accurate and precise this season. Not only for himself individually, but for the team as well. In what was the first ever meeting between these two schools on Saturday a lot of questions were to be answered, mostly on the defensive side of the ball.
The Pitt Panthers came into Sunday’s afternoon game riding a 12 game losing streak. The rumors, chatter, and emotions would only escalate with fans after this game was over. Outside of the “The Pete” was a wash out. On the inside, things wouldn’t be much different.
Lonzo Ball! Where to start? All the hype, all the glitz, and the glamour. When will it end? Truth is it may not. But, for now I’m gonna give you my take on the whole situation.
The West Virginia Mountaineers are 6-0 for the first time since 2006. The Defense is looking better than it has in years. They are swarming with all eleven defenders on the ball.
The West Virginia Mountaineers took the field against the Youngstown State Penguins Saturday afternoon in Morgantown. To the naked eye, the nickname “Penguins” may not seem too intimidating on paper, but they were fiesty on the field.
VU is SEXY! Okay, maybe Steve Harvey uttered the words “West Virginia is sexy” instead but, you get my point. Let me explain. Athletes striving to play at the Division 1 level want their cake, and they want to eat it too.
If you would have traveled around the outskirts of White Sulphur Springs, WV yesterday in a circular pattern you would have taken a friendly wager that in the middle of said circular pattern it would be cloudy and rainy, but as only “Gods Country” would have it, it wasn’t.
