Georgia Southern would receive the opening kick and find space down the field early and often. But they would have to settle for only a field goal to take the lead 3-0 with 8:17 left in the first. After a twenty-five-yard play, Georgia Southern QB JC French would find WR Marcus Sanders on the next play for a 30-yard touchdown reception to take a 10-0 lead with  6:55 left in the 1st quarter. On the ensuing possession for Coastal, they would attempt to get the run game going by feeding senior RB Braydon Bennett but would have to settle for three on the drive.

Coastal Carolina would receive the ball to start the second half. Braydon Bennett would find some space for a 71-yard gain, only to be tripped up at the one-yard line. Coastal would be unable to capitalize off the considerable gain and settle for another field goal by Coastal junior Cade Hensley.

Georgia Southern shut Coastal Carolina out in the second half with thirteen unanswered points to win the game 26-6 and spoil Senior Night in Conway. Coastal Carolina must now win its last game of the season on the road against Georgia State, which is 3-8 on the year, to become bowl-eligible. Too many mental mistakes and three interceptions on the night would hinder Coastal from getting in any rhythm on offense.
