So, you’re obsessed with Draft Kings? Well, join the crowd of millions upon millions of people. Don’t feel bad or guilty. Just enjoy it, and have a little fun. Trust me, it can become an issue. This advice comes from a person that had a BAD gambling problem about 15 years ago or so. Do I think this site is a gambling site? No. Do I think it needs banned or regulated? Absolutely not! Do I think you should be aware of the possibilities of it becoming a problem? YES! If you’re mature enough, have enough will power, and know a thing or two about fantasy sports, then give it a try. There is nothing wrong with testing your skills in fantasy sports with people from all walks of life. I have played for only about 12 weeks now and love every minute of it. In this blog I will try and give some advice and insight into how “I” think you can always stay ahead and not break the bank. Although I haven’t always stayed ahead, I have never let it become a problem. I have made about $600, and have spent just over $50.

I cannot speak for anything other than NFL/NBA, so these are the sports I’m going to touch on. In the NBA (which is my favorite to play) I find it fairly easy to stay ahead. The little fire sign beside the players that you have picked during the contest is a nice touch. It tells you that the player (for the time being) is exceeding expectation. The thing about the NBA is there is not as much parody as the NFL. You pretty much know what you are going to get. When it comes to scoring a player who gets steals, rebounds, triple doubles, etc. will score the highest. These are the guys I look for. The intense guys who forces turnovers, have some size to get rebounds, and can also score some points. Obviously staying under the $50,000.00 salary cap is harder than it may seem with some players such as Steph Curry, James Harden, LeBron James, etc. depending on the matchup. These players can eat up $10,500.00-$11,000.00 right off the bat. I look at the match-ups of a team playing a struggling team such as the Sixers. I usually try to go with 2-3 star players, a couple bigs, and the rest mediocre players with size going against a bad team. I also do not find it beneficial to play in a league with 110,000 in it, even though first prize may be $20,000.00. With that many people chances are a few would have your same exact team, and in turn you would have to split the profits who knows how many ways. I personally like the $5 to $3 entry fee games. This puts you against 8-10,000 people with first place winning $5,000.00, 2nd place $2,500.00, etc. Not bad spending $5 to have the possibility of being $19,995.00 richer in a few hours, huh? These are more my speed. It is also tempting to spend anywhere from $27 for an entry fee to $300 to play against a couple hundred people with the possibility of winning $25,000.00! I like the single entry leagues because its more competitive, and you don’t have people throwing together 25 teams, which you give you a good possibility of at least winning your money back. The problem is when you get multi entry team leagues, you run into the same players putting together 50 teams, which I think is unfair. But, It may be a good way to win money guaranteed. We will get to that shortly…

My advice for putting together a winning NFL team is not much different than that of the NBA. I go with a can’t miss QB, one star WR, two above average WR’s, one star RB, one mediocre RB. At this point I would have about $13,000.00 left to spend on my Flex, TE, and Def. Defenses are the least expensive, so either way you could pick up a great D, It just depends on the match-up. More times than not you can catch a good D against a bad team for around $2,700. The Flex is always my last pick with my remaining money. All you can do is hope for the best, and hope your predictions ring true.

My “opinion” only, can’t miss ways to win money: First off let me say that the prompted minimum to deposit on Draft Kings is $25. The very minimum is $5. My advice would be deposit $25 and make that last as long as possible. Playing a couple NBA games every now and then; Three to five dollar entry fees as we discussed. Then only play in a couple NFL leagues that week also. The money left over should get you through another week of playing. Chances are you’re gonna win $6 to $10 on the regular if you have ever played Fantasy sports in the past. Now, “drum-roll please”……My ultimate can’t miss way to at least, and I repeat “at least” win your money back, which would be a good thing because then you never fell behind and had fun doing it! Oh, not to mention, you still have money to keep playing. If you’re a hardcore player I believe that the best way to win would be get a friend or two who knows the game, deposit the usual $25 “if it’s not in there already, pick 8 teams a piece in a $3 entry fee league. With three friends that’s 24 teams in a 8,000 player league. Any winnings split the money right down the middle. Chances are you are going to come out ahead! Best of luck to you. I hope this helps, and I hope it sheds some light on how to stay ahead. Please play responsibly!
