It’s that time of year again! Baskets made, goals reached, and A LOT of Tums will be consumed! If your team made it, congratulations! If not, maybe next year. March is a great time of year for a sports fan. If you do not like the play-in game, or the “First Four” you’re not a basketball fan. These games are these teams championship. Although a stretch to come out on top during the next round, your team should feel good getting a NCAA Tournament win during this time. In this blog I will go over my bracket. It may bust early due to the fact that I took a few upsets and far fetched teams to make a run, but hey, that’s why it’s MADNESS right?
SOUTH REGION: Coming out of the South Region, I have Kansas as my Final Four team. I have this region pretty much going as scripted, with the exception of Hawaii making a deep run to the Sweet 16 by beating Cal, and then Maryland.
EAST REGION: In this region I have Kentucky coming out and getting to the Final Four. I’m not really a fan of the one and done year in and year out, but I think Coach Calipari has the experience and best back-court in the country. In a bit of a stretch, as I mentioned, I have Xavier making a push to the Elite 8. Only to be beaten by Kentucky. I have WVU reaching the Sweet 16 and being beaten by Xavier.
WEST REGION: Out of this region I have Duke as my Final Four team. I think they have a pretty deep bench and experience in Grayson Allen and Plumlee. As in most years you have to be hesitant of the 12 seed vs 5 seed match-up. I believe Yale will upset Baylor and move to the next round, only to be beaten by Duke. In the Sweet 16 I have what could be a Red River Rivalry on the basketball court with Texas matching up with Oklahoma in the Sweet 16. In some controversy Oregon received the one seed over Michigan State. Oregon, to me, is a bit overrated, and didn’t deserve this seed. They will be bounced in the Sweet 16.
MIDWEST REGION: This is the most competitive region in my eyes. Teams like Seton Hall or Iowa State are poised to make a deep run. Virginia has the one seed in this region, but I do not think they are good enough to make a Final Four appearance. Michigan State is a bitter team with not receiving the one seed as I mentioned earlier. They will round out the Final Four on my bracket.
FINAL FOUR TEAMS: Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, Michigan State
SLEEPER TEAMS: Iowa State, Seton Hall, Xavier
NCAA Tournament National Champion: Michigan State Spartans
